Temperatures
You’ll be amazed at how hot Alaska can be in summertime, too. In the south, you can expect temperatures ranging from 60degF-80degF. This is right in Alaska! The interior is a lot hotter than that. There are times when temperatures can reach 100 degrees! The nights are cooler, and those in the north are typically colder.
Accessibility
Other regions in the northern hemisphere, particularly those within areas of the Arctic Circle, are closed up to May, making summer the sole window of opportunity to visit these regions. If you are aware of where to look or take a tour, you can check out bears and moose along with a variety of birds, including Bald eagles.
It’s an excellent season to observe bears sleeping in winter! If you’re lucky satisfying, you could even see them eating salmon. The salmon are in the summer months when they flow, attracting bears and allowing for spectacular wildlife watching. (Some salmon runs begin in the middle of May, but most are between June and August.)
